Our Level 7 Accountancy Apprenticeship programme is designed to remove boundaries for both employers and learners, often young people, where there otherwise would not be the opportunity to progress to this level. The programme allows access to Masters level qualifications, whilst fulfilling the needs of employers, and helps learners develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours required to become the best at what they do.     Requires AAT Level 3 or non-relevant degree.

    Operational Level

    Includes:

    • Managing Finance in a Digital World
    • Management Accounting
    • Financial Reporting
    Requires AAT Level 4 or relevant degree.

    Management Level

    Includes:

    • Managing Performance
    • Advanced Management Accounting

    Requires CGMA Operational Level. Some exemptions may apply for relevant degrees or qualifications.

  • What is CIMA?

    CIMA is a professional body for management accountants. It offers the CIMA qualification, which is recognised globally and focuses on management accounting, financial management, and business strategy. The qualification prepares individuals for leadership roles in accounting and business.

  • What are the entry requirements for the CIMA Level 7 apprenticeship?

    If you hold a degree in a relevant field (accounting or finance), you may be exempt from some of the CIMA exams.

    CIMA accepts a variety of other professional qualifications, including AAT and ACCA, and exemptions may apply based on your previous studies or work experience.

  • How long does it take to complete CIMA L7 Apprenticeship?

    It generally takes 36 months, plus up to 6 months for the end point assessment (EPA) depending on prior qualifications and entry point.

  • CIMA registration and subscription

    Apprentices must register directly on the CIMA website – myfuture.cimaglobal.com (insert link) where they will then be given a unique ID. Please note there will be a cost to register, an annual subscription fee, and if applicable exemption fees and exam fees (current prices are listed on the CIMA website).

  • What is the delivery model?

    Classroom delivery –  Apprentices will spend 1 day per week at our Gateshead training centre.

  • How much does it cost to study CIMA as part of an apprenticeship programme?

    Apprenticeship levy paying employers – £21,000 from your apprenticeship levy digital account.

    Non apprenticeship levy paying employers – £1050 + VAT which is a 5% employer co-investment, and 95% government funded.

    Please also factor in the costs for CIMA registration, annual subscription, exemption and exam fees which are all paid directly to CIMA.

  • Is CIMA recognised worldwide?

    Yes, CIMA is recognised internationally, with members working in various industries worldwide, from accounting to finance, and from public to private sectors.

  • What is the difference between CIMA and ACCA?

    Both CIMA and ACCA are professional accounting qualifications, but they have different focuses:

    • CIMA focuses more on management accounting, business strategy, and financial management in business contexts.
    • ACCA focuses on financial accounting, auditing, taxation, and external financial reporting.

    CIMA is often preferred for those seeking roles in management and business leadership and preferred by industry, while ACCA is more widely recognised for financial reporting and audit roles, and more popular in practice.
